Experts. Life would be a lot easier if we had experts always available, and within easy reach. I am reminded of a time when I had mysterious brake issues with my car, a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx. Every once in a while the brakes would malfunction in alarming and dangerous ways. I took it to my local mechanic, a friendly honest guy who first tried one thing and then another, to the tune of eight or nine hundred dollars, to no avail.
Finally, I took it to the dealer, and when I described the symptoms to the mechanic he nodded knowledgeably and said, “Yes, I’ve seen that before. You have a malfunctioning butterfly valve.” It still cost several hundred more dollars, but I knew my car was going to be fixed and whatever demons inhabited it would soon be evicted by someone who knew the precise cause of the problem and how to fix it.
This Sabbath, as we turn our attention to the Creator of the universe, let’s take refuge in this expert who knows well the problems of the world, including the ones that alarm you. This “divine Mechanic” has the situation well in hand. We just need to be patient while He does His good work.
