Dear Sabbath Keepers,
We know from the Bible that God loves us and He shows that love to us in many different ways. Sometimes we feel it intensely and sometimes it may become unreal, but we know His love is constant.
Recently I was thinking about how God shows His love to us every Sabbath. In Isaiah 58:13 God calls the Sabbath “my holy day.” In other words, it belongs to Him and so He has a say in what we should do on that day. It is holy and special and set apart from the rest of the week. Earlier in the passage He warns us against pleasure seeking and just doing our own thing without any regard for Him.
The Sabbath is “his holy day” and yet Jesus reveals God’s heart about the Sabbath when he says, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27). The day that belongs to God, is designed for our benefit. Wow! He loves us so much that His day is intended to bring us refreshment and rest so that we will feel His love and care.
I have been reveling in the fact of His love through Sabbath keeping. He doesn’t want to be left out of the enjoyment we experience, so we don’t want to just seek our own way and pleasure, but we can honor Him and find genuine satisfaction and eternal benefits by keeping the Sabbath with Him.
Have a great day of enjoyment with God,
