Ivory Palaces

My attention was drawn recently to a song called Ivory Palaces. The refrain goes like this:

Out of the ivory palaces,
Into a world of woe,
Only His great eternal love
Made my Savior go.

The only reason we can come into fellowship with God and into His Kingdom is because Jesus came out of the Ivory Palaces. Our Christian walk is made up of coming out of our fallen nature and coming into fellowship with Jesus and into His likeness. Perhaps all of you reading this have taken that major step to come out of the kingdom of darkness and into His family but I believe that life is in some ways a process of coming out of something and deeper into what God has for us.

What are some things we might come out of this Sabbath? Fear, anxiety, despair, hopelessness, or even just tension and tiredness. I am sure anyone of you could add to this as relating to yourself or someone else’s needs.

And what can we come into? Peace, calm, hope, and resting in His presence. I am sure you could add to this list also.

His coming out is our way in, it is there for us. I trust that each of you experience the coming into what our loving Savior has for you this Sabbath and a leaving behind of other things. Let’s be in faith also for many others to be experiencing this on this Sabbath day.
