The Purpose of the Beacon

We’re here! And why, you may be wondering as you scratch your heads in deep perplexity, DO we have such a thing as the Monadnock Beacon anyway? Our purpose for doing this is triple-pronged. First of all, we truly desire to encourage young people everywhere, whether you’re part of our church or not. We know what it’s like to be young and to wonder if you can have an impact in the world, and the good news is that you CAN! As we’re discovering more and more, it’s possible to work with God and make a lasting difference even when you’re young, and if a bunch of ordinary young people like us can do it, there’s no conceivable reason why you can’t as well! (And hey, this goes for people who may only feel young at heart, too!)

Also, we want young people to realize the JOY that comes from serving the Lord. We know that there are a lot of things out in the world today that may seem very appealing, but let's not forget that Jesus is more appealing still. He is the closest friend you could ever have, and He is anything but boring. Maybe here we can help you to know Him better and to realize that serving God is the best ambition you could ever hold.

Our second purpose for being here may seem more mundane, but it’s an essential part of our lives: news, news, news! Our friends and family from the far reaches of the globe (sometimes literally) may very well be panting to know what on EARTH their dear boy or girl is up to now, and if we report our activities regularly, this may help to give them an inside scoop. Or, perhaps you’ve never heard of us and are just a wee bit curious to know what life is like in a little community like Fairwood. In either case, hopefully this website will provide you with a little window into our world.

Finally, and most importantly, we want God to receive all the glory He deserves, and if this website can help in some small way to accomplish that, our labor will not have been in vain. If it weren’t for God, we wouldn’t be here, and we don’t want anyone to forget that. With that in mind, if anything about this website is a hideous wreck it’s because of us and if it’s fabulously edifying it’s because of Jesus.
